HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH CENTRE
St. XAVIER’S NON-FORMAL EDUCATION SOCIETY

Mission Statement:-

The mission statement in the early 1980s stood as such:
“The Centre exists to fight injustice to human and nature through the promotion and creation of sustainable local organizations of the marginalized, which are owned and managed by them.”

The above Mission Statement was framed soon after the organization was established in 1977; it was revised in 1999 based on learnings and change in strategies to include a rights-based advocacy approach and foster People’s Movements.

The Revised Mission Statement (2003) is as follows:

“The Human Development and Research Centre is a secular, non-denominational, voluntary organization which exists to empower marginalized communities, particularly Dalits, Tribals, OBCs, minorities and women of these communities to bring about social change, by conceiving and conducting programmes of an educational nature, facilitating people’s movements and creating sustainable livelihood options”.
