Programmes Inclusive Rural Governance

The Inclusive Rural Development Programme focuses on capacity building and empowerment of Dalit, Adivasis and Marginalised women to enhance their participation in the local governance and decision making for equitable village development.

Objective:

Dalits, Tribals, minorities and other marginalized groups especially women from these groups gain spaces in democratic decentralized governance, exert their leadership for inclusive development, social justice and human rights.

Objective:

The overall goal / objective of the programme is “to strengthen / capacitate value based voluntary leadership and people’s organizations so that they are able to influence / strengthen self-governance institutions and constitutional statutory committees which will lead to access rights, justice and development by marginalized communities”.

Activity:
  • Capacity building of village level voluntary community leaders
  • Strengthening taluka level people’s organizations
  • Initiating and strengthening issue-based campaign for PESA and RTE
Coverage:

The program is underway in 150 villages (25 villages of each taluka) of Khedbrahma, Poshina and Danta taluka in Sabarkantha district and Vav, Tharav and Suigam taluka of Banaskantha district.

Achievements:
  • A group of 8 to 10 men and women are being formed in each village.
  • Voluntary leaders have become empowered through rural meetings/ trainings to demand representation and rights.
  • Village leaders made aware on RTE, RTI, NREGRA, PESA, Schedule 5 etc.
  • Village issues have been taken to the office of the taluka.
  • From 6 talukas 109 trainees have been prepared as TOT, can provide subject-based training on various issue.
  • More than 2000 people have applied for land in Vav, Tharad and Suigam taluka.
  • A group of 20 women have been formed at the block level who are participating in the struggle for justice at the taluka, district or state level.
  • 72 people have been allotted land in Dhima village.
  • The survey of roads has been undertaken in five villages in Khedbrahma taluka as the public organization and leaders have been giving a memorandum to the concerned officer.
