Programmes Skill Development Programme

Objective:

To create an enabling environment for the youth of socially and economically weaker sections and motivate the youth to be engaged in enhancing and developing their skills towards improving their employment opportunities, inculcate entrepreneurial skills for self-employment.

Beneficiaries:

Skill development program is mostly for the youth of the marginalized communities whose age group is 18 to 25 years.

Coverage:

Running skill development centres at Ahmedabad, Nizar, Halol, Deodar, Veraval and Bhiloda

Approach:

Youth receive 240 hours training through blended learning approach. It is a mixture of digital and non- digital learning with exposure. Youth get trained on Basic English, Basic Computers, Retail management, Communication skills, Life Skills, Work skills, Job readiness, My Career etc. from the well-trained facilitators.

Mobilize youth from our work areas in support from our collectives, Village Leaders and Volunteers and also from our Alumni of the program.

Activities:
  • Providing training to the youth (18 to 25 years of age group) and on successfully completion of training offered them appropriate and suitable jobs in Retails and service sectors.
  • Provides workbooks to all the students of the program.
  • Maintain relations with employers which help us for Exposure visits to the workplace
  • Apart from content also sensitized youth on Gender and give the knowledge on sexual harassment at workplace Act.
  • Good values, Citizenships, Leadership
  • Pre-counselling before the admission and also pre placement counselling.
  • Mentoring as and when required
There are three components of the program
  • Skill to Succeed (offer a job)
  • Career Development (this is for school children 9th to 12th standard)
  • On Job training (this is residential training and only at our HDRC office campus)
Achievements: In last three years Impact of the program is as follows:
  • Trained 1000 students (717 Male + 283 Female) and placed 710 of them in that 540 male and 170 female students.
  • Abled to improve the economic status of more than 500 marginalized families
  • In 2018, awarded for highest placement 93% among 55 partners across India.
  • In 2019, recognized HDRC office campus center as a “Model Centre”.
